Recently, I received a thoughtful note from Mr. Joe Vitti from Indianapolis that I quote with permission. He questioned a New York Times column I wrote with Glenn Kramon, where we argued that existing government retirement policy ran counter to society’s need for workers.
Great commentary. Complete agreement. Some simply don't need social security for a variety of reasons. Others do, even if they have worked all their lives. I think we can get to a more means-based system if we continue with some of the reason efforts to address economic inequality.
